As new owners here, we’ve discovered numerous places in this land of chilis and sunshine and are happy to share some of our favorites. Our fabulous staff has also chimed in and contributed to some of the many suggestions that follow.
In Albuquerque, diverse cultures, authentic native art and dynamic traditions have helped shape a centuries-old story. No matter your interests, the city has countless opportunities for you to explore. Sample traditional New Mexican cuisine that takes minutes to make and hundreds of years to prepare. Experience world-class museums, stroll along Central Avenue under the vintage neon glow of Route 66, or soar high above the city in the hot air ballooning capital of the world — a sight sure to change your perspective.
Immerse yourself in painted skies, abundant space and more than 310 days of sunshine, which make it possible to ski the slopes of the Sandia Mountains and also play a round of golf at one of our award-winning courses, all in the same day.
We truly hope you’ll enjoy your stay with us and leave Albuquerque viewing your own world in a whole new light.

Fork & Fig
Fork & Fig specializes in gourment sandwiches, paninis and wraps but also incorporates what owner Josh Kennon calls a ‘fine dining to go’ element with more substantial offerings like steak. Emphasizing fresh, local ingredients, Josh proudly says: ‘I don’t have a freezer and I don’t have a fryer.’
One of our favorites is the Salmon wrap, but you might also want to try the innovative sweep potato tots.
A distinctive fast-casual taco concept, inspired by fun and adventure. Their menu features a variety of tasty tacos at an affordable price, in a lively and welcoming environment.
Each taco is hand-made fresh and fast, using ingredients made from scratch. The result is authentic Mexican street-style tacos that are both traditional inventive. Warm chips, house-made salsas, craft beers and no-frills margaritas round out the experience.
The menu of seasonally rotating gourmet dishes in a relaxed setting provides the quality of fine dining at the cost and convenience of faster food. Also setting them apart is the fact that they only serve the finest fish and shellfish sourced from responsible suppliers of seafood.
Of course . . . there’s always Denny’s. Open 24hrs and right next door with all the favorites you know, this is obviously super convenient for our guests. By the way, if you show your San Mateo Inn guestcard you’ll get a 10% discount on your check.
Look for more to come here as we partner with more locally owned establishments in the Albuquerque community!
